Student Opportunities
Center Space Project
Center Space Project (CSP) is an undergraduate student-run arts collective that works collaboratively with the Visual Arts Center to provide students with opportunities to participate in an interdisciplinary artistic community. Through our programming—including exhibitions, publications, and events—we engage with a diverse range of creative voices both within and beyond the College of Fine Arts.
Gallery Assistants
The Visual Arts Center's Gallery Assistants welcome visitors to the gallery each day and provide information about current exhibitions. They also assist with daily operations and special events. Our team of Gallery Assistants comprises undergraduate students from the College of Fine Arts and other departments across campus. Open positions are posted on HireUTexas at the beginning of each semester, and applications are welcome from all students who qualify for the federal work-study program.
Curatorial Felllows
Curatorial Fellows are PhD candidates in Art History. Fellows provide curatorial and administrative support for VAC exhibitions and programs and are responsible for organizing their own exhibition at the Visual Arts Center in the fall following their fellowship. The fellow also organizes three exhibitions of work by Department of Art and Art History alumni at the Courtyard Gallery, located in the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center, in the year following their fellowship. One Curatorial Fellowship is awarded each year, and applications are accepted in the spring semester. All past exhibitions organized by curatorial fellows are included in our exhibition archive.
Support the Visual Arts Center
Philanthropic donations sustain Visual Arts Center activities, from the annual artist-in-residence program to student exhibitions to unique programs and events that serve the Austin arts community, all of which provide students with hands-on educational experiences. Gifts at all levels are appreciated—from vital investment in operating expenses, to annual underwriting support, to special programmatic support through the Visual Arts Center Endowment.
Select naming opportunities are also available for a number of exhibition spaces within the Visual Arts Center. Partnerships with local businesses and organizations are always welcome to support public programming and special events.
